Leaked Image of Amon as Aang

Back in 2012, an image of Aang as Amon surfaced. In this video, I talk about all of the possibilities behind this image.

I’m convinced this is concept art for some sort of nightmare Korra was having. Amon made her have nightmares before if I recall correctly.

When the first season came out, I was absolutely sure that Amon was Tarrlok.

I have some theories. If we assume it's a deleted scene, it could originate from an episode about korra struggling with spirituality, where this is her first time seeing a past avatar in a nightmare mixing Aang with Amon (the same way we got those bizarre images from Aangs nightmare in Atla). Another possibility could be that it was an episode where Korra experiences some trauma from facing Amon (maybe after he took her bending). She has a nightmare where his mask is taken off, only to reveal an older Aang or possibly Tenzin judging from the shape of the head (Aang's face is more round, and his eyebrows more narrow. If anything, this person looks more like Tenzin but it's still not a great match. Maybe it's neither, and the person revealed is an old descendant from an airbender survivor who escaped Sozin's genocide). The bottomline here being that this picture is likely from a dream. The color scheme of the image also a bit off, it looks like there's a filter over it, like you'd see in a flashback or dream.

The thought that Aang was Amon crossed my mind for a second when I first watched Korra because of the whole taking away people’s bending thing. But the idea is so crazy that I thought better of it lol

Just to be clear, Amon wasn't just a random dude. He was the son of Yakone, who bent on revenge against the avatar for taking his bending from him. Yakone was one of Aang's and Sokka's last greatest threats to defeat. After Aang died of premature old age, Sokka and the others spent a great deal of effort protecting Korra from the Red Lotus.

It would have been crazy if Noatak had disguised his face as Aang to cause more confusion when he's unmasked.

I remember thinking there were two avatars, that when Aang briefly died in season 2, that it meant a second Avatar was brought into the world (like Buffy the Vampire slayer)

Making Aang turn into a crazy old man who's essentially an antagonist in the sequel series would be as crazy and stupid as turning Luke Skywalker into a crazy old man who's essentially an antagonist in the sequel trilogy.

I think that was Guru laghima and Amon was origionally going to be the villain obsessed with him instead of Zahir so Amon based his mask of Laghima's mask.

Seriously, if that's really Aang then that just means Korra isn't the avatar.

I had a theory about that before they revealed the whole light spirit thing and so forth. Remember when Azula KILLED Aang? Yeah she straight up took his ass out, it was only Katara using the spirit water that saved him combined with her own healing. Aang was dead. So if the Avatar moved onto the next person even though Aang was revived we basically have a Buffy the Vampire slayer situation. Chosen One still alive, but a new Chosen One out there.

So ATLA ends and we run into Korra and she has all these abilities from the start which is odd we only have met Aang using one element till he was trained. So I had this idea that maybe there were TWO Avatars one being Korra and the other being unknown that they could introduce later as a way to have Korra have really feel like is she the real avatar, not of this pseudo-Avatar line.

Awesome reading everyone's theories, like little stories ... Makes sense the show didn't go with the Aang behind the mask cos if Aang was still alive there'd be no Korra

I wish the show was just one season. Amon storyline was like Aang's whole story compiled into one Korra season.
