if only this video would have been released like about 10 years ago when i customised my hicapa with a 7"upper and lower slide. the amount of time i lost trying to figure out where the little bits and pieces had to go....
i still have my "cannon", and although i cant play airsoft anymore due to a knee injury i sustained playing airsoft on my favorite field, i never sold my gear, and sometimes i just bring it al out and just shoot at targets.

im now 50 years young and mis airsofting a lot, wish i had taken it a bit slower that day, but my motto back then was: you go all in or you go home...

Knipex Smooth Jawed Pliers would fix your issue with marring the surface finished. They are expensive, but totally worth it. One of the best tools I've ever purchased. I used them nearly every day for all sorts of tasks.

When using a vice grip @ just under 2 minutes, id suggest using some small 3cm x 3cm plastic, or wood.. to prefent the teeth marks, i know its a throw in the dark, but every little detail can make a difference in performance :)

About the tool marks, you can something like a small cloth or a piece of toilet paper or anything that serve as cusion, as it wont stop you for inserting the pin but it wont leave any marks
