I think, because the american politicl system is so different from basically all european ones, it's hard, when the USA does something right politics wise (maybe it's a different story with policy, but then again, not really) and vice versa, it's hard to extrapolate those successes to the other continent. It seems to me (again in both directions) to be easier to learn from mistakes people on the other continent are doing.
