Holy cow, I LOVE that imagery. "Digesting a continent!"

I think you’re missing the fact that American growth post ww1 was largely due to the fact that Britain bankrupted itself in ww1 and America went from betting the world’s biggest debtor nation to the world’s biggest lender nation.

I’m an indigenous Brit . I think k the American Constitution is such a brilliant force for good. The American Republic and how it became what it is today really is special. God Bless our American cousins .

I think you are missing the real reason. The United States had Iron, which can be made into Steel. With raw materials made the US strong. Also the United State had OIL!

Because of that time America had the will to do what it took to win. That will is gone

Still number 3 on the list of battle victories historically and are the current reigning surrender merchants. Vietnam to Afghanistan is one hell of a record.

The United was an economic superpower by the beginning of the 20th century but could only dominate the Southern Hemisphere militarily and the European powers were comfortable with that limit. It was only after tWW2 that the US become a global military power capable of domination. Zeihan is either ignoring or forgetting that part of history.

It was the United States Civil war not the whole Continent. Until WW2 the USA was not stronger than the British Empire. I recall the US $ was 25% of the GBP. He is dreaming.

Very true, Germany may have had the second largest economy in the world but it was a fraction of of that of the U.S. And it was 90% of the German industry that was devoted to fighting the Western Allies in the Air and at Sea, and trying to mitigate bombing. The latter was likely just as costly as actively fighting the Western Allies. It does not matter how many soldiers you have, it maters only how you can equip and supply them - ask the Zulu.
Relevant to today is the part where the Soviets only consumed 10% of industrial resources.
Relevant is that the Biden admin never seriously committed to help Putin but rather were determined to help Putin by denying US new fighter jets to Ukraine. Imagine D day without US aircraft- you can’t.

He tells lies he should work for the BJP. Some people say 1898 some 1900 or later. Reality is not until 1917/18.
Maybe he should sit in basement with purple lights and give people some jive talking to Jazz Music.

The major military contribution to WW2 was made by the Soviet Union. Over 76% of Axis casualties happened on the Russian front and they took over half of Europe . We should not try to rewrite history .
