Fun fact: This is in Giethoorn in the Netherlands, also called the Venice of the North. Much like Venice, people live on the canals just like the one you see on the video. In fact, the bridge the girl was holding on to is the entrance to a property.

Even more fun fact: In the summer, Giethoorn is swarmed by tourists from all over the world. Thé major attraction in Giethoorn is renting an electric "fluisterboot" (whisperboat) and enjoying a leisurely cruise through the canals.

I'm not from Giethoorn, but I do live very close by. One of our favorite things to do in the summer with my friends from Giethoorn was watching those tourists try to navigate the canals. The sheer number of tourists combined with the level of inexperience of the people operating the boats is a perfect mix for pure chaos. We'd spend afternoons just watching, laughing, and drinking some beers. I've seen boats sink, fistfight from boat to boat., friggin hilarious 😂

If you do visit the Netherlands though, be sure to give Giethoorn a visit. It's a beautiful little town with a lot of character and atmosphere. A real cultural treasure.
