Can You Install 2zz Fuel Injectors In The 1zz?

Just a quick disclaimer: I'm not suggesting to install larger injectors as a way to fix a lean running issue. The topic is *can* you install 2zz injectors in a 1zz, not *should.* However, if you're running a modified car that would benefit from more fuel, then these 2zz injectors are a cheaper option that you can consider.

alright. you are running a lean code because of the intake. The MAF sensor is only rated for a 2.5 inch pipe so running a 3 inch pipe will throw a code, the only way to cure this is to get a piece similar to what spectre performance sells which is an insert that goes into the pipe effectively reducing it to 2.5 inch. This will kill the lean issue, i battled it for 2 years and found a forum that mentioned it. Further. if you want to take the other route you can get a MAF from a wrx/sti which are rated for 3 inch pipe and have a higher bar/psi rating so you can easily turbo charge the vehicle. The injector idea isnt a bad one, but too much fuel can wash out the cylinders and that will destroy your engine faster than running a lil lean. haltech has a great option now for a piggy back and they can help you get it running once you have it wired up and installed.

4:25 I bought an MR2 Spyder with original 1ZZ engine. However it had serious misfires and I found out that one spark plug is very much fouled. It looked like injector issue, so I bought a set of new ones. They came already equipped with an orange o-ring that physically looked to be just fine. I´ve installed them, and took the car for a test ride (about 1km around the scarcely used roads in an industrial district close to my home), and when I returned, I found my engine completely flooded with a boiling gasoline absolutely everywhere. I was so lucky that I didnt burn my car down.
I immediately bought an original set of o-rings (sadly they only come in a package of 20 pieces here in Czech Rep.), then I put those to the injectors (the originals are noticeably softer and more flexible), and the leak immediately disappeared.
NEVER TRUST AN O-RING THAT YOU HAVEN´T BOUGHT AND INSTALLED YOURSELF!

5:33 Its colder because it doesnt combust properly. If you take it to the extreme and run with super mega rich mixture, you´ll find out that your engine never heats up because barely anything burns properly. There will be a ton of smoke, some backfire, and almost no heat or power.
My MR2 with 1ZZ has some issue probably with the pressure regulator or something, because despite having a short term fuel trim around 0% (-2% to +2%), the long term fuel trim is -40% on both banks (super rich). I have already replaced all the spark plugs and injectors, which stopped all the misfires, but its still rich, so it´s likely gonna be the pressure regulator.

I also have a 1zzfe with a lean condition. The injector part number is 23250-OD030. What is the part number for your injectors? I suspect some replaced the injectors with ones of lower flow.

I got a good question about this mod. I get that the thing runs a bit on the side of rich, but what would happen if you used e15 instead of the normal pump gas? You typically need larger injectors to properly utilize ethanol but i want to know if e15 would even out the larger injectors and bring the afr tables down.

What code scanner are you using? Thanks for the video.

Hey man I'm dealing with a lean condition as well (+40 LT fuel trim) I grabbed some injectors and a guy who tunes celicas says that the ecu will eventually revert back to the lean condition over time. How has yours held up? Still running slightly rich?

Glad you fixed your issue man! Was just wondering why your intake setup causes your engine to run lean tho... Because in theory, even if their is more air sucked in, your maf sensor would detect it and tell the computer to throw in more gas to make up for it right? Anyways, great vid like always keep it up!

What are you using to read engine codes?

Car too lean ??check the intake gasket if the problem are only about your intake this is because your maf read too much air and cut the fuel if you want you can unplug o2 sensor and the car run in open loop and have more fuel and run more rich sorry im french but i understand english and do you have more power with the 2zz injector and if you have money buy a piggyback ecu you can change the fuel trip and increse air flow throttle responce and more have a nice day
