The start is the hardest for me, he always tends to snipe me lol. But once you get in close the fight is just about timing your hits. Cool looking fight but mechanically it was a nightmare.

The real MVP here is Radahn's horse, somehow able to keep that absolute unit held aloft. xD Also, I love how going into his second phase he just launches himself straight up and vanishes...then comes hurtling back in to land like a goddamn meteor.

Oh man, I did this fight all wrong!

I didn't rely on the summon's too much, or Torrent. I just got behind him whenever possible and wailed away until I finally got him. Took way too much time and effort, and I think it left me a bit overpowered for the rest of the game afterward. But, oh well, whatever works I guess~!

I don´t think Radahn used the gravity powers to ride his horse just because he liked him.
I think it was because for some reason, he dosen´t have feets, so he need the horse to move.

For me torrent was a liability most of the fight.. i never figured out how to evade first purple arrows on torrent so i did that part on foot.
Then got on torrent to get closer and evade that arrows from the sky that follow you.
When i got closer i tried to be as close to him as possible and duck under him when he was attacking to get behind him and just hacked away at him.
Then i got on torrent to avoid him falling like a meteor and again got very close.
When he got those big meteors that one shotted me, then i summoned npc's to get hit and got on torrent and kept distance.
When he fired his meteors i closed back in and hacked him away to the end on foot.
it was an awesome fight..alongside Sister Friede my favorite fight in souls games :D

This is the most controversial fight in the game, yet it’s also the one out of every FromSoft boss that tests whatever build you go for the hardest. A casual player, or someone like me not using Rune Arcs, would be hard-pressed to not use summons, especially with how unintrusive that they are. Most merely act as decoys, and none do a big, noticeable damage number unless you stagger him (as normally the case with any summon). Hell there’s even comedy with how if you have patches, he doesn’t even fight him. He unsummons himself and is the only unit who can’t be resummoned. Combined with how this is the only great rune holder where you not only fight on either land or horseback depending on your own choice, and how the spectacle of the entire thing, from the cutscenes to that phase 2 transition to just the setting being one of the more unique deserts in FromSoft and suddenly you have a recipe for a boss whose difficulty can range on what your build is and how good a player you are. This will either be your easiest boss in your run, or the hardest fight you’ve done in the game. And it. Is. Fun. On a pure design perspective taking all this into account now that I’ve beat him vastly underleveled using whatever means I could besides Rune Arcs, it’s honestly my favorite fight in all FromSoft, though of course those who complain about line projectiles (which most bosses in this game have a heart on for, even Godrick) or how Summons shouldn’t be in a fight in general out of standard, or even those complaining how he can be learned instead of being an invincible wall that requires you to just keep wailing on him for 20 minutes straight even at higher levels, will say this might be the worst boss in the game. Or might say it’s an average fight. And they’re all valid simply because their experience was guaranteed to be different. With all the crazy shit I’ve seen people do to him, I’m wanting to try some things on NG+ to see if I can’t pull a Pre-Phase 3 (I just consider Phase 2 his gravity phase before he jumps because the triggers are >75% and >50% respectively) kill of my own. And see if I can do it without ever getting on horseback, something I’ve found possible on accident towards the end of my attempts when I discovered you could roll dodge the volley of spears which rains down. There’s so many possibilities…
