How many ways can we rearange the letters in the word MISSISSIPPI? In this video I show you how and why. At 4:00 there is a mistake. I can't seem to count to 5. So that problem should be 5*4*3*2*1 or 120 ways.

Mississippi ends up reducing to 11*10*9*7*5=34650 (In the video the answer is correct but doesn't say to multiply by the 5 as well)

So what you're trying to say is that, how many duplicate letters you have is your factorial amount?
Example is the word "BUBBLES" there are 7 letters and B has 3 duplicate.
Thus, the formula to solve this is 7!/3! ?

I’m sure it’s explained here but I’m too dumb to get it. On another channel, the numberphile did a video on the enigma machine.
Anyway he did something similar to this but the machine could also pair letters up to 10 pairs. I guessed it would be more of a combination nCr vs nPr. He just divided by 2 to remove the repeats. I’m sure none of what I wrote would make sense without watching it, but I’d appreciate any help explaining his formula. Thanks for this video by the way
