Boeing has presented its "best and final offer" to the machinists union in an attempt to end a strike that has already cost the company nearly half a billion dollars.

Over 33,000 Boeing machinists represented by IAM District 751 have been on strike for over a week now, halting production on many of the company's jets - including its most profitable model, the 737 Max.

Machinists were in search of a 40% raise over the contract period, reinstatement of a pension plan that the company scrapped in 2014, better healthcare options and increased job security. They voted down the initial contract offer from the company by 94%, with 96% of members then voting to strike.

We are not voting. Boeing made this contract without the input of IAM negotiators present. No Vote will take place.

Good job putting this offer out without even negotiating with the union. There won’t be a vote on this offer.

This wasn't an actual offer. A real offer would have been negotiated and then submitted through IAM to be presented to the members.
Sending the offer to the press at the same time as employees and circumventing the union is a strong arm tactic.
It falls under the umbrella of Unfair Labor Practices; and they've been racking them up like crazy.
I actually don't know if this even can go up for a vote

This is a non negotiated contract and the union said we will not be voting this Friday on it.

With all the legal council that Boeing has at their disposal, this is one of the most clumsy mistakes they could make at one of THE WORST times: bargaining and contract negotiations. I'd like to know who (at the executive level) allowed this to occur.

There making medical more expensive over the contract.6% down the first year of the contract. Which is what all these news outlets are telling everyone. But the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of contract it can go up 10 to 15% per year. Wonder why no one is talking about. that

Decrease C-suite executive pay to fund it.

The less they give to the union, the more they put in their pocket.

Literally the top FAQs on the company offers webpage are how to cross the picket line and be a scab.

This offer was never discussed with the union negotiating committee. It's null and void; i expect the federal mediation bbkard will be getting involved again. Boeing needs to be held to the line for insulting the 33, 000 on strike, and everyone in the Seattle region.

Together, strong. The cost of living will eat the pay in less than 6 months

Just to explain to everyone, just in case. "Best and Final Offer" is contract speak. It literally only means, "this is the final version, there will be no edits prior to a vote/acceptance". It's similar to how when you are working on a project, you'll have file names like "Final Draft" and "Final Draft.2"

This is not literally the final offer between Boeing and the Union, and as pointed out, that offer wasn't made in good faith, the company attempted to go around the Union. It's standard Union Busting procedure to attempt to both undermine the Union and foster infighting.

Keep up this strike and there may not be a Boeing to return to. Hope y'all like flying AirBus. In case no one noticed, Boeing isn't in the good graces of the public right now.

The longer they're on strike for the more money is LOST than gained in four years by a good contract. Not the brightest people 😂

Boeing machinists rejecting a 30% pay raise while the majority of American workers can barely get a 3% pay raise is ridiculous. Boeing should consider moving out of the area to a more normal state. The Return on Investment for Boeing is -9.78%, its sales over the past 5 years are -3.5%, income is -$3.44 billion this year, and obviously product safety/poor workmanship is an issue. I'd say a cost of living increase would be the maximum Boeing should be offering. "You're free to go."
