TRANSCRIPT
So it's Thanksgiving and you've messed up your timing. Your turkey is still in the oven cooking but now your mashed potatoes are getting cold. You don't want to put them on the stovetop because they're going to get all scorched and burned on the bottom and you can't use the microwave because it heats unevenly. What you want to do is use a hot water bath. Take a large pot. Fill it with water. Bring it to a boil. Take it off the heat. Put your pot of mashed potatoes inside. Stir those mashed potatoes up and they'll heat nice and slowly. They'll stay hot as long as your water's hot.

@CHOW I have a 26 inch oven and I can fit a 16lb turkey and another 9x13 pan under it.

Amy, you have made my day. I recently binned my Teflon pans ( do the research folks) and got stainless steel ones. Great except when I heat up mash potatoes, they stick, the I have to scrape the pan, and the mash is never as warm as it should be. I will definitely try this. Thank you so much. PS And well done keeping it at 35 seconds, perfect .

Just use a pressure cooker, time it right and your fine and if not put the lid on stay warm, perfect!

the microwave works just fine the next day. but i can understand the day of that a water bath would be better.

Here's an even better tip: Don't even cook the potatoes until the turkey is out of the oven. It'll have to 'rest' for a good 15 minutes before carving, and that will be enough time to cook, drain and mash the spuds.

This was a very helpful video and the young lady was very pleasant but I gave it a thumbs down because I want to know the best ways to reheat cold potatoes, not room temp potatoes. Good simple short advice, misleading title.
