I was cross country skiing alone about 6 miles along the south side of a mountain ridge on an old logging road that others use for cross country skiing. I arrived at the end of the cross country ski tracks where other skiers had stopped a little after noon. I decided to make my own tracks in the fresh snow and see what was past the stand of timber.

I came out of the trees into a clear cut. I was admiring the view of Mt. Rainier. The road continued up hill and then went over a ridge to the left. On the ridge about 60 yards away I saw what I first thought was an Eskimo eating sugar cane. That was the first thought that popped into my head.

He was sitting down and placed the sugar cane across his lap and reached with his right hand to the left end and peeled a strip off. He held that end up and either started licking or sniffing or scraping it all the way down using his arm for a back stop.

I watched longer and realized it wasn't an Eskimo. What I thought was a parka and hood was his own fur or hair. There were patches on it like a fawn deer has for camouflage .

About then. He stopped what he was doing and looked at me. It seemed like he had the feeling of being watched. So I made an exaggerated 90 degree turn to the right and pretended I didn't notice him. He seemed to get nervous and started looking left and then back to me as if to look for an escape route.

His face was mostly human with a dark completion but weathered like a being that spent all day outside. I felt like I was intruding, so I turned downhill and followed the ski tracks back to my truck quickly while checking behind me.

This happened in 1987 just northwest of Bumping Lake and I am 70 yo now.

Found remains of a meal. Deer carcass eaten raw to the bone. No cut marks on it. Head and hide missing. Was between three huge circles in the grass that were eight and a half feet across. Hide was pulled off past the dew claws. Humans can't do that. Was on private property five miles east of the Oregon coast near Bandon. On a little clearing with a view of the house.

In the first “sounds of bigfoot “, what we hear is definitely a raven or two. I live in the mountains and hear this all the time……..ravens make all kinds of different sounds, we call some of those sounds “ the predator “ ( from the movie ).
