Whole house electric infrared heating

We were fortunate to work with our customer, Ian DeGraff, who approached us about heating his entire 1896 farmhouse located in Empire, MI, using our Ducoterra Sola Ray and REH Cove heaters. After a complete remodel down to the studs, the results are awesome!

If you listen carefully, he says the thermostat is only set at 58F (or about 14.4 deg. C) when he’s out of the house, and he said he will probably turn it up a bit now that he’s back inside. I believe that the thermostats can be set about 2 deg. C (or 3 to 4F) lower for infrared panel heaters than for systems using convection heating of the air, for the same degree of comfort. He says he sets the bathroom thermostat at 65F (18.3 deg. C) when showering. It would be nice to hear what he sets it at when he’s indoors in the living room for the evening.

Thanks for this. I've never heard of this technology and am thinking of them to heat my cold and draughty English farm house

Very good project renovating a 1896 house! Over the last 10 years I have essentially done the same we our 1910 two story house. Before the renovation if the central natural gas heater was shut off in the fall the old house uninhabitable in 20 minutes. High insulation is key for heating comfort! I dug out the basement for wiggle room for R35 insulated floor, R100 attic with R20 going to R30 walls. We now heat with thermal mass electric heating slabs, electric baseboards, a 95C solar wall heater and the cooking stove is still natural gas. I'd buy biogas if available. Cool electric radiant heating panels!

Do you have an update video on how it's going now? Still satisfied?
Anything you would have done different, maybe depending on the type/shape of room?

Everything works well but you are with the hat at home. Why? Is cold?

Can you have them all wired on one main panel also? Which I still like how they are on separate panels. It would be cool if you could still wire them to one main master panel.

You said cut them to 58° damn that's cold here in the Carolinas for a heater. lol We run our heat on 68°-74° on 30°-50° winter days.

Are each of these heating greens needing a dedicated circuit to the units and what power source is going to the thermostat?

I'm from the Southwest, I had never encountered the term "mud room" until I visited North Dakota. It is an appropriately named living area haha

How do you manage indoor humidity? Like in the hot upstairs bathroom. Did you incorporate a fresh air exchange system into your hvac?

How many Watts are each of the panels in each room?

I thought these things heated surfaces not space. What does the thermostat measure as air temperature won't be the same as the perceived temperature will it?
Is there a central control panel / app option rather than having to set each thermostat manually?

Just wondering if it dries out your wet boots and coats from snow/ rain. I'm thinking of putting infrared heat on the ceiling in my mud room for this.

Thanks for the walk thru. I’m interested in saving. Small condo, baseboard heat, shocked at how height my last bill was.

Why are they all so high up ? Mine are around a foot of the ground and they work great. I don't think there's any need to have them so high up unless there's furniture in the way.

I don't understand how thermostat can control room temp because IR panels heat up the surface but thermostat measure air temp?

Hey.How cost effective are they? could you share some numbers maybe also coast of your local electricity etc. (If it isn't too personal)
