Our Mission: It is our hope that a more sophisticated awareness, and in-depth knowledge, of what lies at the “heart” of 21st century pop culture, will allow families and individuals to more clearly distinguish well intended authentic entertainment from deceptively crafted propaganda, which attacks the minds, confuses the senses and rips apart the fabric of society.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." [Matthew 5:16]
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." [Ephesians 5:11]

Comparing Tolkien and Lewis's work to pornogrpahy is false, idiotic and messed up. These two dudes should be ashamed of themselves.

Clearly these two haven't done their research on Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. However look to Romans 14:20-23 if you feel uncomfortable about the subject as a Christian. If you feel the Holy Spirit telling you to refrain from reading or watching content of this sort then don't watch. I don't want you to stumble. I have refrained personally from watching Game of Thrones and The Witcher because between myself and God I don't think that would be edifying to me. I do however thoroughly enjoy LOTR and Narnia but that does not break my conscience as a Christian. For me, Game of Thrones would break that. Do what ever helps you maintain a clear conscience before Christ.

A few minutes research will find the secret societies claim to be false.

Whoever greenlit this video has obviously never read The LOTR or if they did they were unable to grasp its message…at all.

It’s called allegory… the magic is not meant to be the main thing. The main thing is the destruction of the Ring- which is symbolic of pride. Or the end of the Witch’s reign by the coming of Aslan- God.

It’s videos like this that makes Christianity a religion of a book rather than a religion of the Word.

I think they actually sanctified myth not using myth to corrupt faith. Than't totally different. Only true Christians can write LotR and Narnia.

Anyone who says Chronicles of Narnia aren't Christian hasn't read or seen the whole thing

Last week I was researching about C.S Lewis faith and found out he was catholic and does not believe certain things from the Bible. Crazy thing that this video pop out today.

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was dissolved in 1903. Tolkien was born in 1893 and Lewis born in 1898. Was it common practice to induct 11 and 5 year olds?

I downloaded some of C.S. Lewis's books and was preparing to read them. While doing some preliminary research, I was shocked by some unbiblical statements that Lewis did after professing Christianity and decided not to proceed with his material even though I respect him a lot as a writer. I never hear about this particular cult and it is another shock for me. I held him in such high esteem. I think that is another issue we, Christians, face a lot. When someone who is very successful in any area of human life professes Christianity, we feel validated by that whereas we ought to be proud of our faith for Christ alone. May God help us with more discernment. Thank you for this great quality content.

Doesn’t seem to be any proof that either C.S. Lewis or Tolkien were a part of the Golden Dawn. I would like to see some proof. I see so much goodness come from both of their works that inspire readers towards goodness, truth and justice. Also, not giving up in the face of evil, temptation…even when all seems lost. Such hope and encouragement in these times.

I think that we cannot replace Scripture or its doctrines with their works, but to say that they endorsed witchcraft is a bit of a stretch and to reject them entirely is to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Any extra biblical source or authority is inherently going to have some error, but that doesn’t mean we don’t read Christian authors or listen to pastors.

I wasn't comfortable with this video. I love what you guys do and I love that you are helping people consider the discernment of what we watch and read. I have to be honest I felt this one stepped over the line into the judgment of another's walk. If someone quoted me on my walk there are times I would be ashamed of the past even since God saved me. There are things I said and did in my walk with God that I have since had more understanding and wouldn't do now.

The message about walking in agreement is something I'm facing constantly on my walk with the Lord. Wether its people from work or people from my past trying to enter back in my life. Shaking my spirit, with wickedness, hypocrisy, Worley confusion. Its a mess. God is testing my faith hard lately. But I know he's Good. He is there with me always in all that I do. Praying For a breakthrough and the strength to persevere. His spirit guides me and I find comfort and healing. God bless the faith.

The order dissolved in 1903, when Tolkien was 11 years-old and Lewis was seriously, it takes less than 2 minutes to google and fact-check this stuff

I have found no evidence that either man was a member of the Golden Dawn directly. Tolkien has always disturbed my spirit but the work of Lewis has strengthened my faith and I speak only of Narnia. That said, the need for entertainment has diminished and the Word of God is more appealing than fiction. Praying always for discernment for myself and others. Much love to you, brothers, for the warnings. We should heed them and take it to God.

I saw a video by John Todd years ago. He said that C.S. Lewis wasn’t what we think he is. Worth listening to his story.

At 2:07 this video asserts, "These two men [pictures of Lewis and Tolkien] are members of this secret society, and Aleister Crowley was also a member of this society." But the alleged secret society isn't even named, and no source is cited for the information.

Philip and Carol Zaleski, in _The Fellowship: The Literary Lives of the Inklings_ (pp. 229-232), report that Charles Williams (not Tolkien or Lewis) belonged to an organization (the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross) that was founded by one Arthur Waite, who had previously belonged to another organization that included Aleister Crowley (the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn) -- but Waite had left that group (because of "its intemperate magical claims" according to the Zaleskis) before founding his own group, the one Williams joined. The Zaleskis deny reports that Williams had belonged to the earlier group.

I would guess that the video's accusation of Lewis and Tolkien belonging to a secret society with Crowley may have arisen from a garbled and oversimplified version of Williams' association with Waite. To get any further I suppose one would have to know a lot more about Williams than I do; but the accusation in the video makes no attempt to get at the facts.

The video even goes on to say (2:29) "they [Lewis and Tolkien] knew he [Crowley] was a member [of the unnamed group], " with again no supporting evidence. This sounds like a gleeful expansion of what may have started as a careless mistake. It might be worth remembering what Rev. 22.15 says about "whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."

Later note: sometime after I posted this comment, the specific spots I quoted and linked to were edited out. But they were there originally.

Maybe you should NOT bear false witness. Charles Williams, a friend of theirs, was a member of the Golden Dawn, for some oddball reason. Neither Tolkien nor Lewis were.

Gandalf is CALLED a wizard, but he isn't a wizard in the pagan or neo-pagan sense. In the story, he's actually something like an angel.

The children don't actually do any magic in the Chronicles of Narnia. They're given gifts, literal objects, but don't do magic. What Aslan does is miraculous, because of who he is supposed to be in the story. The entire point of the series is about obedience to God.

You're playing the part of Satan here, accusing the brethren. Congratulations.

C.s. Lewis certainly helped me to come to faith. His books, like Mere Christianity, have helped not just me, but many people around the world to give their life to Christ (even convict atheist). I prefer a more moderate approach when come to Lewis and Tolkien:" Try all things,  and keep that which is good" - 1 Thessalonians 5:21. Ps: I am a seventh-day church Adventist member. Good bless you LED.
