Section 2 (17 problems)

(0:00) Introduction
(1:01) Starting with 16, expand a product of a binomial and trinomial.
(3:03) 17, Simplify a fraction involving a square root.
(5:31) 18, Solve a compound inequality.
(7:29) 19, Simplify a fraction to the negative 1/3 power.
(11:27) 20, Evaluate a value of a piecewise-defined function at a point.
(13:56) 21, Simplify a function composition.
(16:51) 22, Find an inverse function.
(21:25) 23, Find the x-intercepts of the graph of a quadratic function (use factoring and the quadratic formula).
(25:50) 24, Simplify the change f(x+h) - f(x) in a quadratic function (this is very important for calculus).
(29:21) 25, Find the domain of a function involving a square root.
(31:43) 26, Solve an exponential equation (first by making the bases the same and equating exponents, then by using a logarithm base 5).
(37:08) 27, Solve a logarithmic equation.
(38:38) 28, Simplify a logarithmic expression using properties of logarithms.
(41:37) 29, Convert an angle from degrees to radians.
(43:23) 30, Simplify a trigonometric expression using the definition of secant, cotangent, and cosecant.
(45:47) 31, Given a graph, determine the function (among exponential and logarithmic options).
(47:27) 32, Solve a trigonometric equation for both solutions over an interval (use the unit circle definitions of sine and cosine).

Very helpful, this was a great refresher before I take my Aleks assessment to get into Calculus since I don't remember anything from precalculus this past year

Professor Bill Kinney, thank you for an exceptional video/lecture on Precalculus Practice Problems and Solutions for the Placement Exam for Calculus One and Precalculus. All Colleges and Universities used the Math Placement Test to put students in different Math courses and these problems can only help students with weak Math background. Professor Kinney, thanks to your viewers for correcting the error in Problem number 21. In Problem number 22 Professor Kinney, you did not circle an answer. The solution to this problem was explained really well from start to finish.

awesome video, i am about to take my placement for engineering. i did notice that at 16:39 you circled the answer A, even though you wrote the answer down as 6x+15 which would be answer C. just thought id let you know, also would the answer for 22, be A?

i have questions number 21 f(x)=3x and g(x) =2x+5 your answer is 6x+15 for 3.(2x+5) but where do you move x the f(x) is 3x why 3x•(2x+5) equal 6xsquar plus 5x

I thought 21 should be 6x square + 15x because f(x) is 3x not just 3

Is the math placement timed? Does time play a factor on scoring? If someone spends longer on a question does that lower their grade
