How to Use a Japanese Toilet

So you've heard about Japanese toilets and you want to know more before your Japan travel. Well, you've come to the right place. In this video, we'll take a look at these unique toilets and try to show you what the hype is all about before arriving in Japan.

While no video can give you the full experience of using a Japanese washlet, we'll try to tickle your imagination enough to give you a good idea of what it's all about before your Japan Travel.

In 1980, the first Japanese washlet was introduced to Japan by the Toto company. Since then these washlets have become a part of daily life in roughly 90% of Japanese homes, hotels, and businesses. So when you visit Japan, you'll almost certainly be able to get the full experience firsthand.

But start saving your money, because top of the line models of these toilets can cost up to $14,000 USD.

Costco sometimes sells the Toto topper. I got one, it was about $300, has the heated seat blow dryer etc. Like he said you will need to have a electrician put a plug in wall close to toilet. I used a extension cord for a few weeks until my electrician came. I would never go back to a regular toilet.

I love this description of how to use the toilet. We were in Japan recently and now I must have one fitted in my home in the UK.

In Japan, a toilet is not just a toilet. It is a General Unwanted Nutrient Disposal Appliance Machine.

My friend is having an extension built for his disabled mother. The council is contributing, including the installation of a Japanese toilet at a cost of just under £5, 000.

Have been using Japanese toilet for over 20 years already. You just use seperate adjustable showerhead and direct it to the area preferably with cold water and soft power. The aim is to clean not to be burned or splashed.

You still need to use toilet paper, after washing for girls option, but you have to wipe after a №2, then again to dry after washing. My husband is Japanese and said that's how it's done.
