After the Immortal Sugimoto, AKA, Sugimoto Saichi, and the Ainu girl Asirpa reunited in the freezing land of Karafuto, Asirpa witnesses the death of Kiroranke and remembers the key to solving the mystery behind the missing gold. Sugimoto and Asirpa then renew their vows as partners. But none of this changes the fact that Sugimoto is under the 7th Division's control. I got to go on a study abroad to Japan in back in 2018, and part of that was spent at an Ainu kotan (village). Their culture was so unique and memorable to me, and seeing this series bring it to a wider audience is really cathartic in a way. A professor that spoke to my group mentioned this series actually, I think he may have been some kind of consultant for it. Finally getting around to watching this and loving it!

I only started watching the anime after reading the manga so I had a strangely nostalgic experience seeing the op for season one for the first time, theres even illustrations from the manga that flash on screen briefly. Instead of an intro to the cool characters youre about to meet it felt more like it was memorializing them to me :0
