Easy woodturning project - gear shift knob

This is a nice easy woodturning project which is suitable for the beginner to try. The gear shift knob I made here can be made from just about any wood.
This woodturning channel, explores the uses of wood when combined with resin, epoxy, to make woodturning projects, that are easy and can be classed as art. A lot of the wood turning projects I make can be completed by the beginner through to the more experienced wood turner. That’s a very nice shift knob! Makes me want to go out and buy a standard shift automobile just so I can turn a fancy shift knob!
It threw me off seeing the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car, but then I remembered you Brits drive from the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the street.😊😊

Nice looking knob. Well done.
I like to cut out the diameter on a piece of cardboard to use as a check of diameter and shape. Works for me.
Pen turners often use CA glue as a finish. It buffs to a nice shine and stands up to the oils from the hand very well. Can be a bit messy to apply. There are many videos on this finish/method.
The wood will feel a lot more comfortable that the metal knob on a hot summer day.
