When I graduated from college in the mid-80's I owned no money and had no debt because college was affordable enough that I could work through the summer and holiday breaks to earn enough to pay expenses for the next semester. No loans and no help from anybody. It was tough but those were some of the best days of my life. What I did can't be done now, it's just so out of control expensive. For the average person a college education at a state institution should be made affordable without the debt load. The first year I worked after graduation in my field I made back a little more than four times what it cost me for my entire degree. My hard work paid off.

As the mother of both Millennials & Gen Zs, I'm beyond thrilled to see this young man elected. I'm also so excited that they are now the largest voting block.

I'm Gen X & our kids don't have the ability to earn the extra capital & savings to pay the dept to educate themselves. Just day to day living costs more despite the wage stagnants. Getting out of college should earn you more than paycheck to paycheck.

I love how he led with a polite "Hey old people. It is not like it was back then anymore! Does not MATTER how many times you insist it is and bleet about how saying otherwise is 'disrespectful'.".

It’s LUDICROUS that most corporations go out of their way to not hire 60 & 70 year olds, but we STILL have Silent Generation people who are allowed to run the government.

Finally, young people have bought a clue! I wish this young man well. My generation (Boomers) have a stranglehold on this country's politics because we always vote.

I want all the money back from my social security each month. I despise trump for all the evil he's done.

While I agree with your statement of not having the means to live, I believe that doesn't necessarily speak to wages as it does inflation. When I went to University of Utah in 1976 a semester hour cost $30. At the rate of inflation from then to now the price of a semester hour at the University of Utah should be $158. It is $260 an hour for both in-state and out of state students. That is almost double the inflation rate.

As a gen z dude i agree completely. If you dont literally get all the opportunities handed to you by rich family, it starts to get real hard to live the way boomers expect you to.

“You can only aim at equality by giving some people the right to take things from others. What ultimately happens when you aim for equality is that A and B decide what C shall do for D; except that they take a little bit of a commission off on the way.”

Who is responsible for the system in the us think about that, you're parents are responsible for it. So don't blame the system ask your parents why they let it go so far. And the other side is if you have children in the us you have to save money the day they were born because that is the system. The possibility to study with a loan is a gift from the state because your parents did nothing. If you study something that is nothing worth after your graduation is also one aspect of it. I wish the system was free for everyone but it is like it is and everybody knew it before. In my country everything is free and if you make a apprenticeship you get paid for it the reason is we want it like that.
