We're in Portugal and are rediscovering Nigella! Today we made this ice cream and it is absolutely delicious and so easy to make! True, with these ingredients your waist and hips will complain but as a treat? Yumma!!!

It's important to use a coffee liqueur with a relatively high ABV. I first tried Kalua which is 16% but was too hard. Replaced it with a higher ABV 23% and got a nice soft ice cream.

Can I get instant espresso coffee and pulverize it in a blender to make instant espresso powder? I want to try this recipe but do decaf so I don’t stay up all night from dessert

I've just tried to make this, total disaster. It didn't even start to thicken, it went from liquid to a split mess in seconds 😞 I assume it was something to do with the weather, I've had trouble whisking cream before on a warm day.

I've just made a vegan version of this but chocolate flavour with a hint of espresso. Use Vodka for alcohol part. Lovely.

Have you ever tried to make a frozen dessert using meringue? What about mixing meringue with whipped cream or whipped custard?

Sorry to write that a negative but 'double cream and condensed milk' are really too rich and somewhat sickly to eat ... who would spoon pure cream into their mouths ... so that, plus condensed milk yuk, oh dear me. Best to make a custard version.
