As a automotive technician for modern cars, I’m a big fan of getting rid of CVT transmissions. Don’t have to wait very long. They’ll dive bomb themselves. Eventually people do not realize how much it cost to rebuild a CVT transmission. It’s not cheap and generally will exceed the value to rebuild or replace, on cheaper cars

I drive a 2015 pathfinder. It is a beast of a car with CVT, gives me 21 mls per gal and has 96 k miles. Unbelievable acceleration but they tell me it’s not going to last very much longer. Who knows. But, Toyota has made the same transmission that has no problems.

My dad has a 2013 Nissan rouge with a cvt, the car has 80k miles on it, mint condition. I don’t know how but the transmission hasn’t ever broken. I guess they made good cvts in 2013 only because my sister’s 2014 Nissan Sentra has gone through 3 transmissions in 2 years, thankfully 2 were under warranty.
