Mercury Optimax OptiFAIL Alternator Repair

Well After an expensive fix before last summer we were still having trouble with the Optimax. Alarms blaring, governing mode. Just headaches. Mechanic doesn't think it is worth fixing any more so I'm going to save us some coin, take the summer off and hopefully repower with a Yamaha 4 stroke for next year.

Thanks for sharing your repair for your alternator problem. God used this video to show me that I had the same problem. The ground wire eyelet to the alternator mounting bolt had broken off just like your. THANKS AGAIN. Tommy
