Mine chewed up the belt and i had to put half a belt back on to sail into harbor....

Thats normal. The tensioner is meant to do that. Sometimes the alternator or compressor can put unusual wear on the belt. They can snap in 150 hours. Buy a spare belt and put it in the cuddy. usually you replace the compressor and in the torque specs it says the final torque is with belt on. Now in your case the alternator may have been slightly wearing the belt. No big deal buy a spare belt and run it.

I believe it is the compressor putting varying amounts of pressure on the belt.

Can some one help me. where to by the belt for my optimax 2005 150 hp the one it has snap and cant find it. 8M0021300 enny website where to by it thank best Regard henry

What was the problem? My 150 Optimax outboard is making a similar noise. Very loud.
