In the first such interview he has done, Shashi Tharoor reveals the man behind the incredible polysyllabic vocabulary, the clipped British accent and who’s hair keeps falling on his forehead. In a 60 minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire Shashi Tharoor speaks about a range of personal and emotional issues that he has never discussed before in public. What emerges is a unique self-portrait of a man with a 7.76 million Twitter following, one of the largest in the country.

The founding premise of The Wire is this: if good journalism is to survive and thrive, it can only do so by being both editorially and financially independent. This means relying principally on contributions from readers and concerned citizens who have no interest other than to sustain a space for quality journalism. As a publication, The Wire will be firmly committed to the public interest and democratic values.

I think it is safe to say that those who cannot express themselves in a manner as fluent and articulate as these two gentlemen, are likely to give them gaalis. I get it.

Normal person writes:
"I changed the light bulb to LED to save energy and cost".

Shashi writes:
"I single-handedly managed the successful upgrade and deployment of new environmental illumination system with zero cost overruns and zero safety incidents".

Just sayin' init 🤣

What a great interview. I met Shashi at Delhi Airport once and had the privilege to shake hands with him. He is unique and brilliant. BJP can't have one politician like him in 100 years.

The only interview where I have seen Karan holding himself back and listening to the guest speak. Apart from the vast vocabulary, Mr. Tharoor has above average skills to combine sentences effortlessly.

Probably the first interview where Karan Thapar is listening more than questioning.

I think even the Brits might find it quite astonishing to hear both these Indians in their own accent!
