How To Format Headers and Subtotals on Pivot Table Reports

Create Stand Out Headings and Subtotals on your Pivot Tables with ease....Great looking headers and subtotals make your Pivot Tables look good.

It is often the case that you want to format subtotals on a pivot table in some different way. The is a single setting that allows you to format one cell in a pivot table and have the formatting stick, and this pivot table fix format setting allows the pivot table format subtotal rows to stay on refresh also. You can format subtotals on a pivot table all at once by selecting one subtotal when the mouse cursor shows an arrow. Use the same technique for pivot table format totals and format headers on pivot table report. The easiest way to format headers on a pivot table is to tick the Preserve Cell Formatting on Update setting and then you can format individual cells in a pivot table in excel just like any other spreadsheet cell. This should tell you how to format headers on pivot table, format individual pivot table cells, and format subtotals on pivot table report…. all with excel pivot table cell-level formats.

Now in terms of formatting individual pieces of information within a pivot table you can normally the way you click on things you get various different sorts of arrow so appear so by clicking on there for example you'll see all of those headers of highlighted so I could literally just change the color of those perhaps will go for say this this color here will do something like that and that will preserve on format as well we refresh that it could be you could multiple click on several items so that random and make the text red for example again this long that will refresh that will stay the same I'm just actually going to undo that now if you put the buttons back on sorry the field buttons one thing can do is collapse it all so that's just an expand collapse collapse the entire field if we remove the blank rows for the boban we can click on that highlight them all together as long as we're only expecting to highlight visible cells which incidentally can do by doing ctrl G special visible cells only you can then retain those to any anything you want something lighter though I should would you reckon maybe we'll go with like a very dark grey for example and then we'll go and expand everything and now we have like this kind of far the strange looking pivot table but it illustrates the point and we should be able to actually get onto all of these totals as well do that and at the same time maybe we'll change those ones back so there that's the other thing we could do as well grand total we look way better if that had maybe a very dark blue finish on it something like that with white text make those bold looks like we need no tea too wide not slightly so all of this again is staying true when you hit refresh and then we can take buttons back off now we've used them for example so yeah you can highlight basically as soon as you've got that setting say preserve cell formatting you can format it as if there's any other part of the spreadsheet and put some blank rows back in I think that's actually looking like pretty darn good report so don't forget you can download the spreadsheet by clicking on the link in the description you can work for all of this or just have ready-made examples make sure you check out the other videos on that for excel if you like what you see hit that subscribe phone hit the bell icon as well you get notified in the next videos coming out and I'll see you soon
