Yamaha 30hp CV two stroke

Here I test a 30hp Yamaha CV two stroke outboard on a 13ft aluminium boat with two people on board.
I have found these motors to have good torque. They do seem to chug and run a bit rough if your trying to travel along under 2500rpm which has been the case with all the 25cv and 30cv motors I have tested, it’s not an issue really.

I have just bought one fitted to a Hydrocycle PWC, I was very impressed with the performance. I am running the fuel oil mix at 75:1. It is idling a tad high, but other than that it went great.

I had a 30CV (customer value stands for) 2017 model. Was rev limited to 5700rpm. Use to get 47km/h on a Quintrex Dory. Was a good motor but didn’t like going slow then hard accelerating. Yam said it’s the design issue of a single carb twin cylinder.

Dude, here in Ireland (EU) they've stopped selling 2-stroke outboards.. some manufacturers even stopped making them.
I love them for the reliability and simplicity of the engine, they are way more fun and also very light engines. I will have to source some either from adverts in Germany or on ebay

HI mate i have a cv 30 on my stacer 409.stryker it had 12, pitch on it i put a 11. 1/ 4 on seems to struggle at top speed about 37kmh 2 blokes and gear do you think going back to the 12 would beter top speed

so have you ever modified a triple cilinder yamaha 30 ?
i have one currently in my workshop to be overhauled and create one of those tinnies. was wondering if you 'ld be wiling to share some guidelines to. spice it up a little...
i know you guys run these tinnies down little creeks or billabongs with highly tuned yammies, but it is kind of a big secret what you actually do to make em perform so well...
