Welcome to Standing Stone Kennels! In this video we work on collar conditioning Rogue for whoa training. We used an e-collar on Rogue's belly for negative re-enforcement training. When she stopped on point, the collar switched off. She did a great job for her first time out.

Awesome, I have a GSP, he is one and I have gotten him to learn wait, sit, down, and release. I am excited to get him started flushing and pointing. Thank you for your thorough videos.

I always learn a lot watching your videos and cannot wait to own and train my own bird dog. Ignore the criticisms of others. While not every dog needs stimulation or other negative signals to force the desired behavior, in some dogs I've seen positive reinforcement takes an inordinately long time to get them trained to act as you want, and sometimes not even then. No two dogs are alike in personality or smarts. Keep up the good work!!

Awesome, video, I just bought a Dr.Trainer Dog Training Collar for my male Rhodesian Ridgeback named Wendell. This E collar has auto retractable and will not cause irritation to my dog's neck. Also I can record my voice to the system, I can use my voice recording to train my dog, say goodbye to the traditional beep sound for good. So far it seems really effective. All I do is pressing the voice recording button to correct my dogs behavior. We hardly have to use the shock setting.

In the intro you talk about the whoa behavior and the poor dog is sitting there thinking "I'm standing here in whoa position already." :D

My dog wants to sit when applying pressure with belly collar. How do I stop this behavior?

I'd kill for my golden (who turned out to do upland well) but GSP's are beautiful, and can be used for anything from protection through support, only limited by the very cold. I grew up with them. Watching them hunt was like watching an artform.

My GSP goes into a down position when a belly collar is used. Any ideas?

I was wondering if you find this method to work as effective as starting dogs off on a Whoa Post before implementing the belly collar. I know there are many different ways to train. Over the past month I have used the Whoa Post and just now transitioning to the belly collar.

How would you train this if you didn't use an e-collar?

I was given a 14mn GSP, raised on farmland and fenced yard. I have neither. I walk her 2-3 hours per day. (Found 3 great potential new homes for her but no takes. I've now decided to keep her.) Now 16mns, ALL she does is pull me and hunts on EVERY walk. I've fallen. She yanks me at the sights of squirrels. In 2 mns, she has slightly improved on walks. Please give me advice on how to train her to stop pulling through out the ENTIRE walk. I do know she'd be better off with more land but I don't have that. I treat her well and is very loved. Is there any hope for me to help her adjust to the suburban life? Please, I'd to walk her safely and more enjoyably.

What lead are you using? I have a young setter and being able to control her nose a bit would be helpful, and the lead you have looks easy to get on/off. Thanks and great video.

What level r u using on the belly collar?

Sup Cat. So the idea is that they know the behavior without the E collar so when you do put the collar its just to reinforce what she already knows. If I incorporate the collar into my training does she need to wear it forever or just until the behaviors are solid.
Another question if I may. I couldn't manage to trap any feral pigeons or find any Bobwhite quail but I was able to locate 10 chuckars. My Brittany is just 11 weeks old and i dont want to make her bird shy so should i get some of those cortinux (sp) quail?
About the homing pigeons.. all I can find are expensive racing birds with a pedigree. How can I get into pigeons cheaply.
Why belly collar and not just neck?
Thanks for allowing me to babble but this dog training stuff is real work and I don't have a mentor so your insurance it for now and your doing a great job. Ty

Great video. Question: will you at some point be able to get rid of the collar so she will respond only to the command ? How long is the process from positive reinforcement then collar, then just verbal command (month, years ?). Thanks so much.

How many birds can you have in that bag? Are they trained? Do they ever come back?
