You can't mistake John Davis's voice! He's been going on strong on Motor Week for over thirty five years! Love his voice! Wonderful to watch and very informative at the same time! That's why I love watching the retro reviews to learn about cars I forgot about or never even heard of as if they were new! Keep up the good work and keep pluggin' away John!

I’m a CJ7 snob, bought my Renegade new back in 1986 for $11, 800. I’ve had my JL Unlimited with 3.6 liter for a year now and I love it. It’s apples and oranges. Yeah the CJ7 was much more tough off-road but I’m an old dude and probably not going to do much off roading.

I drive a TJ and love it but when it gives out I could definitely see myself moving to this generation. Seems nearly everything is improved

Why can't they just offer the Diesel with a Manual?

Let’s remember the 3.6 is a great engine. It’s in literally everything from FCA and has proven itself not to mention 7/10 sold are 4 door not 2 door and more are sold with options than without so that’s how Jeep will keep making them they have to make them the way people are buying them. They aren’t gonna make a off road Manuel two door bare bones diesel because they wouldn’t make any money... I think that’s understandable

How does the auto start/stop feature affect the starter reliability? seems like the frequent cranking will cause wear and tear

I would choose the 2-door, hard top and the Pentastar V6, with an automatic. Nice engine choices by the way

I am interested in the 3.0 V6 Turbo. The best blend of capability, towing, and power and efficiency. The Turbo 4 looks good too. Seeing the JK and JL together and it is easy to see how more appeal the Wrangler will have to more people. I miss the 4.0 inline 6 too, but from a packaging, emissions and more stand point it doesn't make much sense. I like the 8 speed automatic as it was time the old transmission went bye bye. I like the JL. Am I ready to buy one? Not yet. I want to see what the reliability and more turn up with some time others see of the JL.

Wrangle on...now's the time, the time is now...wrangle on. Okay, that's it, I'm pulling the trigger on a new Wrangler. The Zeppelin reference was the final nudge.

I got a bit confused: is the 8-speed available with the Pentastar??

Wish they'd make a more affordable barebones model without all the luxury stuff on the interior. Most people are just gonna gut that crap and install what they want anyway.

if you want a fancy interior then get a damn bmw it is a jeep i remember the older ones with metal interior that was painted on top of that

I don’t think folks that bag on it hate it. It’s much more the well warranted concern for the Chrysler power trains. The old amc in-line 6 was fantastic. Almost as reliable as a Toyota. The 3.8 and 3.6 haven’t come close to that reliability that you would have gotten in a tj. I think the jl interior looks really fiat-like but styling is always subjective. I think most people like it.
