All these squares make a circle. All these squares make a circle. All these squares make a circle.

Respect for the camera man to travel back in time and go into Archimedes' brain

Just want to remind everybody that Archimedes was literally THAT GUY. During the war against rome, this dude built trebuchets, “iron claws” that would literally grab a ship by the hull and lift it 90° vertically, causing it to sink, and a god damn “death ray” using a massive mirror to hone a beam of sunlight at oncoming ships, setting them ablaze before they even got to shore. It’s argued that he instead may have used hollowed clay cannon balls filled with a combustable substance known as “Greek fire”, but regardless. This dude was sinking fleets and armies with a few ingenious inventions, and it is written that after all this, he was stabbed in the back by a Roman soldier after he told him to piss off cause he was in the middle of his work. Actual legend.

The sphere exploding into an infinity of needles is quite ominous

didn't know archimedes had a whole ahh animated video with violin concerto no. 4 in f minor, op.8, rv 297, "l'inverno", allegro non molto playing in his mind

I didn't imagine this.

I have a question for math enthusiasts here. Imagine a super super, super smooth sphere with a size of the earth. If on starts to tile it with 1m by 1m tile, what would happen at the polar opposite of the sphere starting point as we are about to finish tessellating?

my brain cells still cant comprehend why the formula works but sill continues to use it

Idk why but my mind keeps on playing
"But you didn't have to cut me off" Everytime it zooms in and out

We cannot divide the sphere surface into infinitely small square regions. We just need to divide it into infinite small random regions. The same result will occur again

Sorry I don't know what is B1r by 3 B2r by 3 ...

So where did the 1/3 come from?It just pops up and we’re all ok with that? No preamble or anything just “Hi I’m 1/3.”

Unironically how i remember the volume of a sphere. I hate remembereing formulas but splitting it into a bajillion pyramids is very clever and i already know that formula

as someone who doesnt have archimedes brain this is a absolute win for me :skull:

Imagine if he put notation to that. Where would we be now if calculus was discovered millennia ago instead of centuries!
