Let’s talk about rashes and lupus!

- The butterfly rash typically appears red, raised, and occasionally scaly, and its distinguishing feature is that it does not affect the nasal folds located just beneath the sides of the nose. Many lupus patients have found that the appearance of the rash signals an impending disease flare-up.

- Discoid lesions are typically thick and scaly, obstruct hair follicles, predominantly appear on sun-exposed skin (although they can occur in non-exposed areas as well), tend to result in scarring, and typically do not cause itchiness.

I was diagnosed with lupus at least 30 years ago. I have all the symptoms etc. related to lupus including thyroid condition and others. BUT have never sort any treatment whatsoever and am healthier that most folk around.
**Just chill - live & excercise sensibly, eat healthily & no doctor needed - that's how i feel .

I have lupus, but my rash isn’t persistent, are rashes persistent ?or do they come and go during a flare? I’m thinking they’re only present during a flare and depending on the severity, right?

How do you get rid of the butterfly rash?

I just started experiencing a “rash” like this, and it makes my cheeks feels sunburned. However, it goes away after a few minutes, just like a hot flash. I do have other autoimmune issues like fibromyalgia, and maybe RA. I also have Raynaud’s. So of course now I’m worried I have Lupus.
Does that rash start out in short bursts like that? Everything I look says it last days or weeks, so I’m hopeful it’s nothing.

Consult any dermatologist even i have same problem but it never gone

Does the butterfly rash happen on its own or only when exposed to the sun? I have thyroid disease & recently about 2 months ago I became sensative to the sunlight. I get sunburned easily now. My face sunburn looks like a butterfly rash, but its also on my forhead. I dont get it when im not exposed to hot sun. Also i started getting rashes on my arms, but they were not exposed to sun when i got the rashes. Could this be lupus?
