This song saved my life in 1972. I was driving my 72 Vega on 2 lane rd and coming up on a hill while listening to this. It was making me very anxious, and as I came up on the hill I pulled off quickly onto the shoulder and slammed in the brakes, only to watch 2 semi trucks taking up both lanes and screaming past me where I had just been only about 3 seconds before. I sat there in a cold sweat for a while, knowing I had just barely avoided what the song was calling for. A short prayer of thanks, and I was back on the road, still a bit shaken.

My boyfriend took me on our first date at Kiel Auditorium in St Louis and they played this song. Opened for Grand Funk Railroad. We’ve been married 52 years.

My ex-BF played drums for them in concert in the 70s when their drummer got sick and they asked the audience if anyone could do it. He knew all their songs exactly like the albums so he flew onstage. Back in the early 2000s at a tribute concert in Dallas for the lead singer's cancer treatment, they still remembered him and let him play a couple.

This song chilled me to my bones I ended up becoming a firefighter-paramedic for 30 years

This is a song best played when you’re driving in your car at night on a deserted country road.

Plane crash survivor. I usually don't bring it up. Talking with others today yeah. That's wild. I'm so lucky 🍀

I think this is actually the first record I ever owned. I literally have not heard it in about 50 years before today...

What a song! I survived a car crash where my best friend died. I crawled out through the windshield. A morbid recollection & D.O.A. nails it!

Not sure why I never got into this band in 1970. The name of the band sounded heavy. In 1970 I was already into Purple, Zeppelin, Santana, Chicago, Cream, Blue Cheer (no Sabbath yet). Better late than never. What a treasure I've discovered. I've heard the first 3 albums so far.

Listening to this in honor of my Dad who just passed away and was my favorite person to share "music night" with when I was growing up. This was one we listened to back in the day. Very lucky I had him here as long as I did.

I don't know why I'm listening to this. I KNOW it will stick with me all day.

I loved that song, until my brother died in a car accident. It took me 30 years before I would play that album again.

My older brother, RIP August 10 2022, bought this album when it was released - I was 11 and remember him playing it much too well, scared the heck out of me, I'll never forget it - He was a mega David Bowie, Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Cream, etc. fan way back when rock bands rocked - He exposed me to so many great bands that formed my music life to this very day... \m/

I picked up this the day after I first heard it. Freaked my poor mother right out of her socks. One of the best songs to "suffer teenage angst" to!

I’m 24 fuckin years old, I listen to Slayer, Thy art is murder, Death, Carcass, and various other metal bands.

I heard this on the radio for the first time last week and it shook me.I was uneasy the whole night shift.

We played this in a loop for my nephew's seventh birthday party. The doctors say he'll probably be talking again by high school.
