These are confusing pairs of adjectives that are often used incorrectly. Misha and Larissa explain the difference and give lots of examples.

Adjectives that end in -ED often refer to a feeling.
I am surprised. = I feel surprised.

Adjectives that end in -ING refer to the cause of the feeling.
The news is surprising. = I feel surprised by the surprising news.
