i honestly love the idea that curly get his voice back through a chunky buttoned AAC, even if it was originally for a pet or service animal. Diasuke would probably give it to him after finding it in storage from the last shipment and ask the crew to record little things for Curly to say or hear whenever he gets bord and presses buttons listlessly. The sensation of pressing those buttons probably hurts him, but the reward of taking his autonomy back in this way must be a relief after months of having no voice, laterally and metaphorically.

Friendly Reminder:
Curly's nerves are all exposed. His skin was burned off in the collision and as such all the muscles, tendons, and surviving nerves composing his body are exposed to the open air. This means, as you can imagine, he is in constant agony. Thus him even USING the buttons with his nub ends envokes excruciating pain within him hence why he repeatedly presses ouch.

Another Fun Fact: He is very likely blind as he lacks eyelids as well as tear ducts to moisturize his eyes. Thus, he is either blind or in further agony as his one exposed eye is dried out... slowly.
