People like you have to be rewarded. I do thank you so much for this, particularly the tips about taking the tube out.
I just changed mine, what I did was to hold the flow indicator with one hand and the tube with the other (from where it was firm with the male part inside), and wiggled until the tube came out.

THANK YOU this worked PERFECTLY! My 10 yr-old Bissell suddenly started gushing water out of the flow indicator. Looked up your video and followed your directions. People I am not handy and used only needle-nose pliers, a Phillips screwdriver, and masking tape (didn't have electrical). My flow indicator didn't look broken at all when I removed it, but I tried the new $10 part from Amazon anyway, and NO MORE LEAK! When I called the repair shop they said "it's tough getting parts for these older machines (??) and we might have to keep it for several weeks". Your fix took 2 days for Prime shipping and about 30 minutes of work (15 for removal, 15 for putting it back on). HOORAY!!!

Thank you so much for the detailed video. I was able to do everything but pull off the case (needed more muscle). The special points about the hoses was so important and after a lot of careful tugging, pulling and twisting they popped off. After I got everything put back together (didn''t leave a single screw behind), I tested it....and it At 73 and arthritic hands, I was still able to repair it. Thanks again!!

I have had this problem twice with my machine. It's going on 8 years ish. Another tip I can give if it hasn't been said yet is to warm up the tubes that connect to the indicator with a hair dryer. The heat helps make the rubber more pliable and comes off easier. Great video thanks.

We heated the little yellow hose with a hair dryer to make it expand and it easily puled off. Great informative video. Thank you sir!

Thank you so much!! I was mid cleaning and then all of a sudden it started leaking, I freaked out, because as we all know this machine isn’t cheap. So glad to hear it’s an easy/cheap fix(hopefully). I’m going to take mine apart really quick to double check that’s what it is before I order any parts. Also thanks for the “No hot water, only warm” tip, because I was unaware of the issues that can cause, because I’ve always used as hot of water as I could get, hence why this probably happened and the tip for removing the hose😃Anyway, thanks again!!😊

Hello : Thanks a MILLION for this video. I have a Big Green for 8 years & it started leaking from flow indicator. I thought it was old age & being that I loved the way it performed, I decided to buy another one. The wife suggested I look on YouTube for troubleshooting. OMG !!! There was your video with specific instructions on how to fix it. I ordered the part & installed it. PRESTO It was working again like new. You saved me $600.00 & again I want to say Thanks a MILLION !!!! Sincerely John

I'm replacing mine now too...Did not know what the problem was until watching your video..I would forget about the leak until I would go to clean a carpet for a client and the solution would leak out...finally ordered the part and I'm replacing...This is my 3rd Big Green...I've just sold them in the past when I did not need them anymore but things would happen that I would need one again!! Luckily I always bought used!! They have a good used resale value for a home appliance! haha...I pay about $300.00 and always would sell for $350.00 so never lost money!! Never would I pay new price of $500.00 though!!! Thanks for the clear instructions!!

Thanks so much! My machine just started leaking and I found your video right away. I ordered the part from Amazon, and it will be here in a few days. I checked the Bissell user guide, and it clearly states to use HOT tap water. Most hot water tanks are set at 120 degrees, which isn't that hot. I'll be using WARM water from now on due to your tip.

I ended up epoxying the top/bottom halves of the flow indicator - think they used weak silicon on these - now I can still use super hot water.

Thank you Fred!!! I probably can't see well enough to remove and work with all the components you showed us, but I at least know what to tell a repair person is wrong with my machine. Yep, I have been using very hot water. Good idea about marking the water container! Sincerely appreciate the time you took to help others.

Haven’t left a comment before on YouTube but wanted to make sure to thank you for this video. I watched it once, ordered the part on Amazon (ordered it Saturday and got it Monday!), took apart the Bissell Big Green, and replaced the flow indicator assembly part with zero issues. I didn’t have to watch the video again either. Many thanks for your help. Keep doing the videos — you’re awesome!

After watching yours and one other video, I gave this fix a shot. It was an easy fix and worked great!! So thankful not to have the repair or replacement cost!! Thanks so much!! Now if I can just figure out how to get my husband to shampoo like you are doing everything will be perfect. Lol

This worked great for me!!! Bought the part off Amazon and 2 days later, everything is working. I cut the tube (I verified I had enough to re-connect first) since I had problems getting it off the old unit.

I made a video with this fix 3 years ago.. I have crazy hot water here at my home and I think that’s been the issue I’ve had to do this twice now .. so from now on I’m using like warm water .. thanks for this video

Thank you for the excellent video. The details you covered made my repair a breeze. Especially the bit about taking the tube off.

Appreciated your video being longer and more detailed cuz I took the unit apart and took a while to order the piece and couldn't remember where which screws went! Thanks

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this video. I just replaced the flow indicator on our Big Green and it's working perfectly again. Really appreciate the tip about the hot water, too, because I always put very hot water in the darn thing.
