The Console Killer has been parted, assembled, and wall mounted. Now it's time for it to undergo some gaming benchmarks to see if it can outperform the Xbox One and PS4. Thanks everyone for making this an awesome little series!

EDIT: Thank you guys for correcting me on Metro Last Light. The game WAS released on PS3 and Xbox 360, running at 1152x640 and 1280x672 respectively, both locked at 30fps. Annotation updated in the video.

If only console killers were achievable on a budget in Canada, our fucking dollar is beans!

Where the hell did you hide the cables on the wall mounting? oO
I can only see what it seems to be a power cord, what about monitor cables?
Great job.

This duo of videos is EXACTLY what I was looking for. All the PCs I wanted to build were near $1000 up to $1500. You helped me bring my PC dream into the near future rather than think of it as "something I can save up for over years." Thanks man!

This should have been a one part video.

Good video Kyle. Was cool to explore and I think you did a great job showing the FM2 platform and what is can and can't do for at 70$ CPU. I am shocked you got it to 4.5 Ghz. You got a good chip they tend not to OC that well.

U guys in U.S are so lucky because of the prices... In europe and russia pc hardware is so more expensive, while consoles are the same price...
For example here in russia a R9 280 is 230$ and R9 280X is 286$
Wich makes impossible to built a console killer here...

I have another hack you can use to make the setup slicker. Make a small hole in the drywall to route all the cables into, then make another hole where you want them to come out. I did this trick to mount my TV in the bedroom with no visible cables showing. It seems like a perfect hack to make your setup look even better. Nice job on PART 1; I love the editing you did. I just built a nice x99 system and recorded the whole thing, but my lighting was crap. Huge disappointment, luckily, I have another build coming, so I won't make that mistake again. BTW: What kind of lighting and camera did you use for part 1?

GTA V "CPU bottleneck". Its not a CPU bottleneck and can be proven by checking the CPU usage charts. Its a RAM throughput bottleneck. I'm running a 2011 Phenom II and beating the FPS on that system, the CPU he picked out has too little CPU Cache and thus uses the computer's RAM instead (hence why it is never on any min specs lists). Had he used a 4 core FX series he wouldn't have the issue. The workaround is to increase the RAM frequency from above the 1600 as he left it (I can tell from the FPS as I have the same issue) to as high as it will go.

If you have the same issue you'll find the Phenom II divider stops at 1600 so you'll need an FSB overclock (drop the multipler to stay at the stock 3ish GHz if you can as you don't need more on any current games) and the FX series dividers go up to 2400MHz so I'd hope his choice sits somewhere between the two. But calling that a CPU bottleneck is just bad as its implying a CPU calculation bottleneck not a memory flow issue. No current games pose a calculation bottleneck for my 5 year old Phenom II nor do they hit a CPU bottleneck with my newer FX series running a dramatic underclock of 35% with a Fury X GPU (and nvidia will find itself even less CPU bottlenecked from better drivers).

Wow looking at how old these parts are, our computers would smack this around nowadays lol

Hey Kyle, would it be possible to rotate these lian li cases up side down using the exhaust fans as intake fans for positive air pressure in combination with the chimney effect often seen in silverstones fortress cases ?

I'm not arguing with the process. I think this is a very interesting topic. I would hardly call this a console killer though. When this video was made, an Xbone and PS4 would have set you back $350 and $400 respectively. This machine cost $476.44 from the get go. Not to mention an OS ($100) is required to do any said gaming. I also did not see an included Bluray player. On top of that, how are you going to interface with the machine without any peripherals? Xbox and PS4 both come with a controller and the Xbox even included a chat headset. Even on the really cheap side (far inferior to the quality of a 1st party controller) you're looking at spending about what a controller retails for ($60) and that's still on the low quality end for a mouse and keyboard. You could probably get both an Xbox AND a PS4 for what this would actually cost. I'm just saying that I've yet to see one of these "console killer" videos that accurately places a console against a PC of equal REAL WORLD price.
