In my neighborhood back when it was all new (($250, 000 - $1 million dollars home about 500 homes) maybe half were built at the time)), HOA came around passing out flyer asking if we wanted an HOA for our community. I was extremely happy to find out nearly everyone else in our neighborhood refused! We take care of our own property without anyone telling us what we can and cannot do!

I've purchased two homes in my lifetime so far. Each time I hired a realtor they were told, absolutely no HOA's.

This is one reason why whenever my family was looking for a new house, anytime my dad saw an HOA, he would move on to another listing. Another reason is because he doesn’t think it’s fair that he should be told what he can and can’t do to a house he owns and lives in.
