Being open minded is good. But that means considering whether a proposition is false, not just going along with claims that it's true.

And when the claimant is unable to meet the burden of proof for the proposition, we have no warrant to consider it further.

They want to shift the burden of proof to the atheist by saying "You can't prove that god doesn't exist".

What’s funny about believers, they say to have ”faith”. But Abraham, Jacob, Paul, Thomas and a couple of others didn’t need to have faith, since their deity showed itself to them. Proof it’s possible for it to appear in front of people. Why doesn’t it do it for anyone ?

If I was presented with unfalsifiable, demonstrable, actual EVIDENCE, then ok, I'd no longer be an atheist. Fair enough. And I think most atheists would feel similarly.

But in absolutely NO way would I EVER worship or even acknowledge him as worthy of same.

If a god figure literally appeared before me and demonstrated themselves as a godly entity, I would need others to confirm that they're seeing it too, otherwise I'm probably seeking psychiatric help.

I think the technical answer to that question is that everybody is closed-minded. My brain is encapsulated inside a skull and only receives electrical impulses from sensory organs. Maybe not the most closed system but certainly not the most open. Lol

I've found that most Theists cannot fathom the mere idea that there might not be a god. Not even as a hypothetical thought experiment. This concept is dangerous to them, because it skirts too close to cracking their armor of god with doubt. Doubt can lead to disbelief and disbelief can lead to hell. And Theists are the ones who claim that they have an open mind, while proclaiming that Atheists don't.

Yes. I'm as close minded towards a god as towards dragons and leprechauns. Doesn't mean i wouldn't change my mind but like everything else im not starting with the assumption they exist.

I had a t-shirt printed that asks “who do you hate for the love christ?” As an atheist I wear shirts like this to help strike up conversation, so I can spread the message of moral freedom away from a hate filled fictional entity.
