Critical Race Theory Summer School 2023 Superintendent Backpack Day 1 (90 Second)

Показать описание
Critical Race Theory Summer School 2023 presents -- Fighting Back to Move Forward: Defending the Freedom to Learn hosted by the African American Policy Forum virtually on July 30 to August 3, 2023.
This year’s summer school is focused on the “war on woke,” a dog whistle campaign conservatives have mobilized to undermine our democracy, impair public education, erase historical truths about Black history, circumscribe Black freedom of expression, and roll back the modest gains of the Civil Rights Movement. By revealing how attacks on Black voices and ideas are connected to attacks on Black votes and Black lives, instructors at CRT summer school will provide participants with a roadmap to understanding, and the tools for combatting the growing and coordinated efforts undermining core features of our democracy. With ever-growing book bans, legislation prohibiting the teaching of CRT, and regressive laws like “Don’t Say Gay,” it has never been more urgent to connect the dots between the freedom to learn and the freedom to live.
Breakouts
This year we have over a dozen different “breakouts”. These breakouts comprise a series of three sessions, one per day, linked together thematically. This year, participants can choose a breakout such as Black Feminism, Affirmative Action or Teaching History that aligns with your immediate needs and interests.
Workshops
This year we are delighted to offer CRT Summer School workshops where we will provide practical skills training for Summer School attendees to deepen the everyday tools to fight back in defense of the freedom to learn. Some of these workshops will include sessions for educators, youth organizers, and media training.
