According to the information on bats she's more than likely never coming back. Mother bats either bring their babies with (imagining that's how it got in the stroller), when they go home to roost. Or they leave the pups with the colony when they're too big to carry. There is chance she abandoned him there but animals don't abandon their young in nice safe places to hide. She's more than likely 💀 .

Bats are vital for the environment! They are major pollinators, seed spreaders, and pest eaters! I’m glad y’all reacted with kindness rather than malice as many do these days.

They do have high rabies carrier rates (don’t be dumb and hold it against them they’re literally animals) so it’s important to not handle them without good protection like very thick gloves/a net. If they bite even the glove but ESPECIALLY the skin it’s imperative that you immediately go to the ER and get rabies treatment. If you can, put the bat in a safe containment space just in case the local animal control wants to check it for rabies.

Sadly, this involved euthanizing the bat and checking its brain so it’s really best to just leave the bat where it is and call your local wildlife center for advice on what to do. You shouldn’t be touching wild animals without proper training. It’s dangerous for you and them.

As many have pointed out, the mama probably didn’t abandon the babe. Understandable to think so but bats are very smart. Chances are she’d be able to find it again. If babe is still in the stroller or box on the stroller the next day then it’s likely it was abandoned for some reason (not a common choice as bats are actually extremely family oriented). And LWC will come to the rescue.

Very cool moment for the kiddos and I hope y’all have become educated on proper procedures when it comes to wildlife!

I think I would have left them there for a little while longer put the stroller back and see if the mother came back

I love how he cares for all living things and how his daughter didn't seem phased by it. Bats are good for the eco system, just not in our living spaces.

I like how this woman was like "then leave it!" It's a very good sign in people to understand it's often best to leave baby bats, or other animals, where they are found. The mother would be sleeping, and likely they moved the stroller from when/where the mother stowed the baby away on it, *and they are nocturnal.* Obviously, there could be more. If these poor babies go to the right people, it would live a healthy life, likely in captivity though, which is unfortunate.
