Amazing how people are so against being paid appropriately in relative terms for working 65 hours a week at night for over a decade, yet are somehow in favour for raising minimum wage .
These doctors have been doctors for anywhere between a year and 15 years . These are the drs doing emergency work on you at night yet the public are so against them most having to have their pay eroded . It takes 15 years to get to the skill l level that some of these doctors have yet we think it’s acceptable to only pay them 3k a month for working 50 to 65 hrs a week at night whilst other jobs earn a similar amount for only working a mere 40 hours a week

5 years after medical school:

Doctor salary in the UK: £52, 000 - £65, 000 per year

- Bullied and undermined on daily basis (by patients other senior doctors, nurses, health care assistants, and ward clerks!!)
- Poorly staffed hospitals and very limited resources and outdated equipments
- Limited training opportunities, mostly service provision
- Longer training duration due to service provision commitments
- Having to relocate nearly every year
- Same pay regardless of how hard you work or the number of patients/cases you see (communist model of remuneration)

Doctor salary in USA:
$350, 000 - $400, 000 per year

- Doctors are among the most well-respected and appreciated people in the society
- Excellent career progression and reward for hardwork (doctors often ear $500, 000 + after a few years of finishing tbeir training), the harder you work, the more you earn
- State-of-the-art hospital facilities
- Free on-site parking, meal allowance, travel allowance etc etc

If doctors are so important then restore their bloody pay

This is ridiculous that a private practice doctor could not even stand up for junior NHS docs who are bullied, living in poverty and now criticized for being at the end of their rope.

A bit rich, a GP who chose to practice exclusively privately against the junior doctors strike.

Why is it ok that lawyers, accountants, pharmaceutical and actuary workers earn a adequate wage but doctors who are equally capable shouldnt?

A mistake as a doctor can mean killing someone. That responsibility alone is reason enough to pay them!

They'll just leave to Australia/NZ/Canada/USA/UAE lol. Any logical person would. I have private medical insurance so couldn't care less. Those who rely on the NHS will be left with third world care though. Sunak needs to come to some sort of pay agreement, he's useless however.

I did a quick Google search of parliament wages vs junior doctors, and am shocked! Reduce parliament wages and expenses they can claim and pay out doctors fairly! 🙄

If patient care is the most important aspect here, why is the government refusing to appropriately fund the NHS and negotiate this kind of thing in good faith? It's always put on the nurses, or the doctors, or the managers, but ultimately it is the government who have worked to systematically undermine the NHS since they came to power in 2010. Prior to that most metrics and outcomes were far more positive than they are now.

They earn lot more than most workers, get back to your job or do what everyone else does if they don't like a better paid one!!

Greed and politics. Many people have had their pay eroded over the years. Meanwhile people are suffering and dying because of thes doctors. Don't tell us it is about the patients. It is not. 35 percent is just greed.

What’s truly damaging to patients is over a decade of austerity somehow creating even more debt and the government putting even more pressure on with immigration numbers.

These are just junior doctors. They haven’t even proved themselves at this point. They chose this path. 🤷‍♀️

All this does is to make them lose whatever respect they still have from the public
