This video shows you how to install a new drivers side CV axle in your 2012-2017 Toyota Camry. A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications.

This repair was done on a 2014 Toyota Camry SE 2.5L Sedan 4-Door FWD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2012 Toyota Camry
2013 Toyota Camry
2014 Toyota Camry
2015 Toyota Camry
2016 Toyota Camry
2017 Toyota Camry

🔧 List of tools used:
• 21mm Socket
• Anti-Seize Grease
• Safety Glasses
• Hammer
• Rubber Mallet

Keep in-mind, many CV Axle manufactures do NOT advise using anti-seize on the splines. I understand the concept, but there is a reason they do no want this added to such tight tolerances.

I have done this on a Rav 4 with the same transmission. It is not this easy. It’s hard to get a pry bar in there because it’s recessed in the transmission. Even if you can, it’s likely the snap ring is going to resist you. I used a slide hammer and after turning the wheel a 1/4 turn on the other side each time I pulled on it, finally it came out. If you are doing this job, I would definitely replace the axle seal which sits flush on the transmission as there is a good chance it will be damaged when you pull the old axle out. Also USE OEM axle and seal. The first time I tried AutoZone and it lasted 500 miles and sounded like clanking noises on turns. All that aftermarket stuff is made in China and it’s not worth the risk as I found out the hard way.

I had a shop tell me they wanted to replace both my cv axels after I had brought my car to them for a completely different issue. They wanted to charge me $1300 for the job. I declined, and I'm glad I did. From what I'm seeing here, they were charging way too many hours.
