context: nintendo sued the palworld developers for patent infringment, where they made a patent in May, 2nd for "throwing an object at something, and something happens" and by object it literally means any object, so throwing a grenade at an enemy in a video game counts as being part of this patent. and they also waited till the games hype died down to do this.

The only real way to fix this is to boycott the Pokémon games. But because every game that releases sells millions of copies, no matter how shitty, Nintendo and TPC will keep doing as they please.

If Nintendo wins, it could encourage other companies to do the same, it could also encourage companies to even patent different gaming mechanics in fear of losing it to other companies.

Nintendo does have grounds to sue, but not over the patent. They should focus on the assets stolen from them in palworld, not this.

Why are companies even allowed to have patents listed under them? Companies don't think and incapable of creating an idea. These patents should be under the names of the people who actually made it. Also patents should've been extremely strict, specific and non-transferable so it can't be abused. Once everyone involved in the patent pass away it should automatically enter public domain. Otherwise, i feel like we're strangling ourselves here. What if someone had this great idea but a part of the technology include something from 100 years ago patented and still in the hands of some insufferable company. It's just so stupid and the fact that they are allowing patents to have a wide reach is crazy. They say monopoly is bad while having practices that clearly supports it.
