Banded krait, a large deadly venomous snake which kills other snakes

The Banded krait (Bungarus fasciatus) is one of the visually most stunning elapids in the world. It lives in South and Southeast Asia. Banded kraits have beautiful yellow and black coloration. It serves as a warning to predators. This species mostly hunts other snakes, which it kills with a powerful neurotoxic venom. Because of this it is sometimes called Ahiraj (the king of snakes). However, when caught by humans, it is usually very placid and calm. Banded kraits hide their heads under their bodies when they feel threatened. The tail is short and blunt, and it resembles the head. Our video includes natural history footage of the Banded krait and also two rescues of this species in India.

You know a snake is venomous when it has the colour pattern as caution tape

As usual, an excellent video about a beautiful snake. Best of all is the respect that you two show for animals, for the people who live with them and also for us. The snakes are not provoked and stressed, to produce a "juicier" footage. None of that suspenseful music, just the music of the natural world, the dialogues with the people and such. I love your work, bless you!

I'm from India & yes many snake rescuers here handle snakes with bare hands which might be shocking to you but I common here..like you said it's not advisable as many rescuers have been bitten & had to be rushed to the hospitals for administering antivenom..Here the rescuers fear only the Russels viper as it has a nervous temperament.. gr8t video by you as usual & hope you had a good time in my country

Kraits have an interesting and almost unique body shape.

Snake locomotion is about as fascinating as the snake themselves. It looks like it's levitating across the grass

Oh wow! This is the main predator of javan spitting cobra in my house area! This, and its cousin Malayan krait (Bungarus candidus)! The snake rescue team often found and rescue this snake when they were herping this area. This snake is indeed fascinating! (I'm sorry for the pun)

And since banded krait and malayan krait's habitat often clashed, people here tend to confuse which one is which. Not helping that their local names are really similar too ("Welang" for B. fasciatus, and "Weling" for B. candidus).

I once opened a banded crate, saw a Banded Krait, and immediately closed and banded the crate. Story over.

Bagging the snake with your two hands while a different person drops it in is a little crazy since you have no ability to maneuver it in time with your own hands. They are just targets at that point.

It looks like the body is very triangular in cross section.

Do you happen to catch the sight of the california kingnsnake sometimes? If yes, can you film a video about that species. Thanks a lot

You can tell by the flat-ish body that it likely evolved from sea snakes.

Great video, I get too impatient waiting to read the next bit of info tho, perhaps put more sentences together so rapid readers dont have to wait so long.
