This is the fifth track from Deep Purple's fourth album, Deep Purple in Rock (1970).

Lineup (Mk II) - Ritchie Blackmore: guitar, Ian Gillan: vocals, Roger Glover: bass, Ian Paice: drums/percussion, and John Lord: keyboards

Lyrics:
Take the trouble to decide the things you do
Will not be the things that don't appeal to you
See the mess your makin' can't you see your fakin'
Gonna make it hard for you, you're gonna--into the fire

Turn on the mandrake that was given to you
See if you can make it like the others do
Feel the blood a knockin' when you're finger poppin'
Gonna make it hard for you, you're gonna--into the fire

Stop your bleeding mind before it's over and done
Listen very closely to the message I've sung
Feel the blood a knockin' when you're finger poppin'
Gonna get a message through, you're gonna--into the fire

Deep purple is metal, not just hard rock. They have heavy riffs as well as fast paced agrgessive riffs, loud bombastic drumming, screaming and dark/serious lyrics, they play at max volume with distortion. They also have a ton of shredding How are they not metal?

author of THE DEATH TAX sez: Impressed by how good this band's early material was, how well it holds up over time. This album was truly an auspicious debut for IG. Thx for posting!

Saw this song live two years ago. They still get it. Gillan is doing the best one can do at his age, Paice is still wrecking the sh*t out of the kit, Glover never looses his groove, and Morse and Airey, though not being Blackmore and Lord, are louder and greater than ever thanks DP for your music. You rock.

One of the their best song ever.
Hard and pumping, it's a distillate of Deep Purple essence.
Great!

On the whole, Purples' deep cuts of 70-72 outshine the 'classics'

In truth, we wouldn’t have bands like Deep Purple if it hadn’t been for Jimi Hendrix.🤘🏻

DP's music has a special kind of charm. A nice heavy charm.

Incredibly heavy for the time....and way ahead of the times. This whole album is so tough...so heavy metal, so edgy. Totally different than Machine Head.
