This is one of those songs that transcends time. It feels like this song has always existed but it came out in 1999. Still rocks the same over 20 years later.

Funny how this song can go from "Oh God, not this song again." every time I'm in a convenience store to "Hell yeah! What a banger." When I actually get to listen to it.

The combination of Sanatana's sick guitar riffs and Rob Thomas' smooth voice. What a great song in a summer that had a lot of great music.

Grande Santana un orgullo para México, además de que veo que muchos extranjeros les gusta su música. Incluso Araki lo hizo un hombre inmortal.

One of the biggest radio hits of my childhood! So different and original... I love it!

I didn't know until yesterday that this song was the last #1 hit song of the 1990s, 20th century, and millennium.

In 2017, I was on a train in India, watching the landscape go past through dirty windows, with earbuds in and my iPod nano playing Santana. It was unforgettable.

well if the world actually did end on 1/1/2000, this would have been a pretty damn good final #1 hit.

Everyone's freaking out about the guitar, which is very understandable, but my god, the bass line is orgasmic.

Legend tells that this song was inspired by the perfect smoothness of shark skin.

Man it's a hot one
Like seven inches from the midday sun
Well I hear you whisper and the words melt everyone
But you stay so cold
My mu equita
My Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa
You're my reason for reason
The step in my groove, yeah

Bridge
And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
'Cause you're so smooth

Chorus
And it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well that's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Gimme your heart make it real
Or else forget about it

Well I'll tell you one thing
If you would leave it'd be a crying shame
In every breath and every word I hear your name calling me out
Well out from the barrio you hear my rhythm on your radio
You feel the turning of the world so soft and slow
Turning you round and round

Bridge

Chorus x 2

Or else forget about it
Or else forget about it
Oh, let's don't forget about it
(Gimme me your heart, make it real, or else forget about it)
Oh, let's don't forget about it
Let's don't forget about it, yeah
Oh, no, no
Let's don't forget about it (repeat)

This song will always be a classic.  Santana is just another great artist way ahead of his time.
