WeekNum:
Excel WeekNum function will provide you information about a week number by taking in two parameters, "Serial_number and a "Return_type".
The serial number has to be a date and cannot be a text value in order to operate the function properly. If you pass in a text value a problem can occur and the results may not be accurate or may result in an error. You should pass the value for the serial number using a date function or you should provide a reference to a cell that has a proper date in it.
The return type parameter is optional and can be ignored. Return_type is a number that will help you decide on which day your week should begin. Default excel will consider number one as a default value if you do not provide anything in return type. Now that means that if we do not provide anything in the return type, your week will begin from Sunday by default.
ISOWeekNum:
ISO week now will provide you information about the week number using a slightly different approach i.e. If a week 1 starts from the middle of the week where half of the week is the last week of the last year and half of the week is the first week of the beginning year that week will be considered as the last week of the previous year.
As demonstrated in the video, the first week of 2016 is actually a part of the last week of 2015 and that is the reason when using ISOweekNum we got an output as 53. Use these functions wisely wherever necessary.
