The hard way to remove Dewalt drill chuck

In this video, I replace the broken chuck on a Dewalt DCD796 combi hammer drill. Unlike normal chucks that have a set screw inside the throat, these types need to be unscrewed from the shaft while being held tight. I will show you how to do this safely to avoid damaging your gearbox. This method should work with any drill that takes these screw-on type chucks, including models from Makita, Milwaukee, Hitachi, Hikoki, AEG, Bosch, and more. It may also work with Dewalt models DCD991, DCD996, DCD771, DCD796, DCD998, or any other model that doesn’t have a set screw
