I worked at Channel Nine in the mid 70's, and at that time they didn't have an edit VTR available when they were taping Joe's show. So when a gadget malfunctioned (not so infrequently, either), he had to go right back to the start and do it all again. That really cheesed him off. They had a different theme by that time.
That earlier theme music was also used on ABC's "Playschool" for their clock segment.

I found the carpet sweeper the most hilarious! I haven't heard that opening theme since I was a kid, I knew it in my head but to hear it again was a REAL treat! Great posting. What was the name of the hardware presented that did the other 1/2 of these short K&K advertorial show? Anybody know...?
