I had the same issue with the s20 Ultra, it was closing apps and appeared to be a memory leak. When I got a big update that may have sorted that out with a reset as it has been okay since. It is fine a year later and only closes apps in the background if you have not used them for a while. No reason a 12gb RAM module should be closing apps like that so it is def not a feature!

The iPhone is clearly the King of Performance and the Galaxy S21U the King of Features. Whatever rocks your boat, no losers here!

They basically the Same speed, I watched some of the video is slow motion and what I noticed is that whichever phone you clicked first ends up winning, no hate or anything because this is as close to accurate as can get

Can you do Snapchat and Instagram quality? They claimed they fixed it. Do stuff like front facing flash and video/photo comparisons thanks. On s21

my s10+ 8gb ram one UI 3.0 can keep 19 apps in the background (using almost the same apps and games) without reloading anything, the s21 definitely just needs more optimization.

yikes, that scrolling lag on the s21 is horrible 3:02. notice that slight delay with the black screen when opening apps on samsung on the app reload test? Horrible experience when jumping in and out of apps. apps reloading all over the place on the s21 with double the ram LOL.

Nick I think s21 needs some optimisation patch up! We need a rematch in a month. Thanks for the comparison!

great video and tbh i don’t really need to watch vs videos cause i already know both of these companies make high end beast phones, it’s all about preference and i love both even tho i have the iphone 12 i like both phones like a lot

That's why I wanted to see this speedtest rather than last day, RAM is important

What's the point of 12 GB RAM then? Quality or quantity???

I made the leap last Christmas from my S9+ to a 12 Pro Max and I've not looked back! Overall I think the 12 Pro max is a much better phone. Sure I got used to that saturated Samsung screen but I can live with what Apple gives us. The one thing I miss most is the fingerprint sensor. In this time of all day mask use.... a fingerprint reader would be awesome!

I think there's some software optimization issue in ram management of Samsung

S21 Ultra for Screen and UI features, iPhone for Battery and optimization.

The iPhones have since the X (SE2 excluded) a touch sampling rate of 120Hz. To get such responsiveness out of a software it has to run on higher frame rates. I think, and it also feels like this, Apple makes the iPhones run on 120fps on a 60Hz screen. Someone with less knowledge in it would say: but these screens only refresh 60 times a second (16.666ms). That doesn't have to be the case the built-in graphics chip and the screen waits for the newest information It doesn't wait 16.6666ms for a new picture. It just refreshes what you have. Some people say its still not smooth, those are the one who are sensitive to something called Screen tearing, which happens the frame rate isn't on par with the refresh rate of the screen itself. Syncing both of these would increase the input delay dramatically though. What I have realized is, many android phones with OLED 60Hz technologies like a Galaxy S10 don't have higher frame rates in comparison to Apples iOS. The 120Hz thing just feels, so hardware compensated like anything does on android. Nothing against android smartphone users I love android phones too, but they are a bit off with issues on the software side.

Hey nick you find that the iPhone still dims the screen when playing games from the device getting hot? Past iPhone have done that and I find that annoying. Thanks

I always wondered what’s he saying in the beginning: Nick here helping you to ?what? here technology?

The reason for 60Hz feeling smoother on iPhone isn't due to any "optimization" wizardry. It's because those 60Hz refresh screens actually have a 120Hz touch sampling rate. Regular 60Hz touchscreens have a 60Hz touch sampling rate. If 2 devices run consistently at 60 fps, the one that detects the touch faster will be able to produce an output first. Hence, the "60Hz smoothness". I don't know why tech reviewers don't point this out, they just say it "feels faster" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
