D Series #3 Aem vs knock off fuel regulator

Rico on the inside of that fuel regulator is a lock washer that does not need to be there. The nut on the top of the diaphragm of the knockoff is a lock nut any nylon of the lock nut is not touching the center bolt I would remove the lock washer to make sure that nut doesn't come out. I may replace that lock washer with the very thin stainless steel flat washer. Also the red color indicates that is a viton type of gasket Andy Black typically indicates that it is rubber if you pick up gasoline that is heavy in oil or you use too much fuel stabilizer or injector cleaner or run any kind of methanol ethanol fuel it will damage that regulator

i use the knock off personally only issues i had which were easy to fix is bolts are crap as threads came off so went to hardware store and got better grade bolts for like 3-5$ and had to replace the inner gasket thing as the no name one got a crack in it and no one offered replacement gasket but aem fit in it so ordered one and havent had an issue so far only issues are really superficial and normal maintinence stuff to me i wish could afford name brand but when small brands work the same i agree why go out of way to spend money i dont have

So my aem had that same diaphragm in it and it wont hold pressure sent pictures to aem and they said there diaphragm does not have a lock nut on the diaphragm and that if it does it's a knockoff

Grabbed a universal regulator from a amazon (oasis) for 40 bucks. The Aem rebuild kit (as I will be running e85 90% of the time) for 20 bucks. $60 in total. The aeromotive my buddy wanted me to run. $176. Like you said. Most of these things are simple stuff that cost 20 bucks to Make and they sell it for 10x the profit
