Hey Robert, I saw a couple of other suggestions about using Albolene from some fly fishers and happen to find this one from you posted last year. Sounds like another very good endorsement for this stuff. It does look to be a lifetime supply for sure. Thanks.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Albopene is terrible for using as a floatant. Why? It contains mineral oil. Mineral oil is a petroleum distillate. It’s a pollutant. I’ll explain: Mineral oil and Vaseline are petroleum distilates. They are hydrocarbons, meaning they are comprised of hydrogen and carbon. They are pollutants. Naturally occurring fats found in nuts and plants, like coconut oil, shea butter, etc., are triglycerides. Triglycerides are esters of fatty acids and glycerol, which is are organic compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, but they are not considered hydrocarbons because they also contain oxygen atoms. Hydrocarbons, on the other hand, consist only of carbon and hydrogen atoms. Triglycerides are necessary for life and fish can ingest them safely. Make your own floatant using a mixture of cocoa butter, shea butter, or coconut oil and beeswax. It’s far cheaper and won’t pollute or kill fish.
